I'll admit it; I've suddenly got this huge obsession with comic books/ characters ever since X-men 3 came out. I've watched the old 90's X-men cartoons, X-Men: Evolutions, and then I found out Superman Returns was due out later in the summer! So, I watched Batman Begins, All the Justice League episodes (Both the normal and unlimited), and even read a couple of DC comics as well. I also wikipediaed (Yes, I'm making that a verb) every single character I could think of, and thus stumbled about the "Birds of Prey".
So, yeah; Katie here kind of reminded me of them (Feathers?), and the picture was all dark and stuff, so hence the title! I really tried to aim for a comic book feel when I was vexeling this; I tried to do cel shading, but that looked absolutely horrible, so I vexeled the face in three different styles and lowered the opacity on all of them, creating this end effect. The feathers... ugh, took me about a day to do. I will never, ever attempt a picture with feathers ever again. Hope you guys enjoy! EDIT: AHHH I can't believe I got a DD for this! I took some peoples advice from here and vexels.net, and lowered the opacity of the outline slightly Daily DeviationGiven 2006-08-17Birds of Prey, by ~intoyourheart, has about the most attitude in a digital image that I've seen in a while. The glamorous look and beautiful outfit are just incredible. (Suggested by ~thursdaymorning and Featured by `Aeires) |

its in the photograph...
The linearting is interesting too, since I think it really contrasts with the shading and the off-black parts of her.
